Meet Our Ministers

| Dr.
Richard Gene Puckett, Pastor in the
Interim
The native of Kentucky is a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, and served as editor of the Biblical Recorder from 1982 through 1998. Although when Puckett felt God’s call to the ministry he never expected to be anything but the pastor of a Baptist church, he served state Baptist papers longer than any other man during the 20th century and is the only man in Baptist history to have served as an editor of four different state papers—Ohio, Kentucky (associate), Maryland and North Carolina. During these years, he served as “Pastor in the Interim” in about 25 different churches in three different states. He is a graduate of Campbellsville University, Western Kentucky University and received an honorary doctorate from Wake Forest University. He has taught at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Campbell University Divinity School and Gardner-Webb University Divinity School. He and his wife, Robbie, are the parents of two daughters—Janet and Jeanne—and grandparents of Jordan, Hamlin, Richard and Jack. The Pucketts have lived in North Raleigh for 25 years.
